ATLANTA – (02.27.20) – Pond, an industry leader in architecture, engineering, planning and construction services, was recognized by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners for Gwinnett 2040 Unified Plan’s “Outstanding Planning Document” award win at their February meeting.

The Georgia Planning Association commended the plan for its innovative approach at the organization’s annual fall conference. The Gwinnett 2040 Unified Plan communicates a bold vision for the County’s future with a comprehensive document that tells a clear story uncomplicated by technical jargon. The team’s unique ability to incorporate maps, graphics and powerful imagery to address land use, infrastructure, housing and economic development earned the plan the “Outstanding Planning Document” award.

To celebrate this achievement and honor the planning team’s tireless effort, the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners recognized the award at their recent February Business Session. The Board formulates guiding policies for the County and sets direction by approving or disapproving specific actions. These officials endorsed the plan and forwarded it for state review in 2018. The plan was adopted in February 2019.

“Pond was a phenomenal partner [in this process],” said Jace Brooks, District 1 Commissioner. “The team did a great job getting so much input and turning all of our thoughts and ideas into a readable document.”

Collaborating with Gwinnett County allows Pond to help shape the community it has been deeply invested in since opening in 1965. As home to Pond’s headquarters and one-third of the firm’s workforce, the team was thoroughly equipped to guide the County toward responsible and sustainable growth.

“The undertaking was a big effort for Gwinnett, and they did a great job,” said Councilwoman Nash. “Visually, the document is gorgeous and easy to read.”
