Pond is pleased to announce the hiring of Lauren Blaszyk as Planner III to assist the growing Transportation and Community Development Division.
Blaszyk’s 14-year-career in planning began at the University of Virginia, where she graduated with a bachelor degree in city planning.
Since that time, she has built a solid professional reputation, with experience in land use planning, transportation planning, economic development, and historic downtown “Main Street” program efforts, in both the public and private sectors. Blaszyk has worked with municipal governments, county governments, development authorities and state agencies.
She has a diverse planning portfolio, including managing and implementing a broad range of plans and studies, including comprehensive plans, corridor studies, economic development strategies, wayfinding signage plans, comprehensive transportation plans, design guidelines and overlay districts, zoning text amendments, and zoning ordinance updates.
Most recently, she had responsibility for oversight of all planning and zoning activity for the City of College Park, Ga., while managing the creation of design guidelines for Mableton Parkway, Veterans Memorial Parkway, and Downtown Vinings for Cobb County Community Development.
Since starting with Pond, Blaszyk’s first project is assisting Pond with review of portions of the City of Milton, Ga.’s existing development regulations, as part of a larger effort to create a Unified Development Code for the City.
Blaszyk enthusiastically added, “Pond has a great reputation in the Atlanta area and beyond. Pond’s strong leadership and its reputation, along with Pond giving me the chance to increase its abilities in land use planning, makes me excited to assist with growing Pond’s client base.”
“Having worked with Lauren over the last several years, I knew she would be a great asset to enhance the planning aspects of our various programs,” said Bob Williams, Vice President of Community Development. “Her diverse experience in both public and private sectors gives Lauren a unique perspective on how to create solutions that build a consensus amongst stakeholders, and we look forward to her helping to continue to expand the expertise of our Transportation and Community Development teams.”
