Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection (AT/FP) Design

Our structural engineers are specialists in the application of UFC 4-010-01 and multiple security engineering UFC’s and USACE protective design center technical reports.

Since 2006, Pond’s structural department has been involved in numerous new building designs and existing building renovations that required blast mitigation design for the DoD. The design has included both design-bid-build and design-build projects, along with writing project specifications to meet blast mitigation requirements.

Pond has provided AT/FP design for the Federal Aviation Administration and for the Department of Defense Safety Board, which involved much larger accidental explosion considerations. Pond has experience in progressive collapse mitigation (in accordance with UFC 4-023-03) whereby a building is designed to withstand the removal of certain columns or load bearing walls due to a bomb blast. Pond’s structural department utilizes specialized software that is not available to the general public such as SBEDS, SBEDS-W, CONWEP AND BLASTX.
