Barrow Academic Building – Lanier Technical College - Winder, GA

This project represents the first phase of Lanier Technical College’s new Barrow Campus in Winder, Georgia. The 68,000 square foot facility is a full service campus building offering academic programs in Allied Health Sciences, including medical, nurse assist and occupational therapy programs, clinical and physics laboratories, along with Industrial Trades programs which include Automotive Technology, Welding, Mechatronics, HVAC, and Computer Engineering. An administrative component, along with student service functions are also provided.

Pond previously designed the Master Plan for this new campus and was retained by the Technical College System of GA to provide comprehensive A/E services for the new project.

The building is designed to complement an adjacent Career Academy facility being developed by the Barrow County School System and will offer dual enrollment programs. Pond & Company is working closely with both clients to design a solution that offers a cohesive collegiate experience to Barrow County residents and also blends well from a site perspective.

Showcasing the research and technology to the public throughout the facility, along with creating comfortable break out spaces for students are primary design drivers. An additional goal includes design of the project to preserve limited site area for future expansion and development.
