Construction of Cobb County Fire Station #18, located on Mars Hill Road in Acworth, is well underway with a projected completion date in September 2018. Pond Constructors was selected to provide CM-at-Risk construction services for this project, which broke ground in July.

The previous fire station was outdated with limited apparatus bay capacity. The new 9,631 square-foot facility, which includes a fuel station and drive through bays, will house additional fire safety apparatus and personnel. Accordingly, the new station will enhance fire safety capacity within the Acworth community.

This project is a good example of the CM-at-Risk model providing enhanced value to the owner. Due to significant easement encumbrances, several site development systems had to be re-addressed including storm water management and pavement. Pond is scheduled to install pervious pavers, a water management feature, in lieu of typical flat surfaces such as asphalt or concrete.

Cobb County Fire Station #18 reinforces Pond’s fire station portfolio thereby enhancing Pond’s CM-at-Risk project delivery experience.

Pond’s ability to accurately evaluate cost, time and quality aspects of various options provided by the design professional, led to the best option selection by the owner in an abbreviated time frame.
